Maxi mode.
As described above. When you select to activate the maxi mode the Time Out and Excess Flow parameters are doubled. The maximum Excess Flow would be min 3 gallons and max 10.7 gallons per minute ( lpm) and the maximum time out 1 hour.
Bypass mode
There will be times when you will want a lot of water for a long time.. watering the garden, filling the fish pond, washing the car, filling the swimming pool ( if you have one). The Time Out and Excess Flow have been set to your normal use and you don’t want to have to re-adjust them.. If you push the bypass button it will effectively switch off the Floodcheck(r) protection for a limited time. The standard default time is 1 hour but you can select up to a max 3 hours. That is the maximum. During this time the LCD screen will display that you are on bye-pass and tell you how much time is left. When the time has expired the Floodcheck™ will return to its normal mode protecting your property.
Non Use mode (VACATE)
When you go away for a weekend or on holiday you should always turn your water off.. few of us do!
However.. Floodcheck™ is aware of our little misgivings and if it does not detect any water being used for any 24 hours period it will turn it off until you come back. This feature can be disabled if not required.
Vacation Mode
When you go away on holiday you just push the vacation button and this turns the water off until you return home and turn it back on again.
Irrigation Mode
Turning off the water completely when you are on holiday may not suit you. You might have an automatic Irrigation System to water your lawn or plants. When you are in the vacation mode you can select a time period when you would like your water to come on an off each day for this purpose,( irrigation period) . In fact.. if you turn everything else off and set up the irrigation correctly, you can use the Floodcheck as your automatic irrigation system. The default times are on at 5pm and off at 6pm but you can select your own time.
External inputs and outputs.
There may be situations (mainly commercial) where it is necessary to have an external device to monitor the flow of water, or have the Floodcheck™ control an auxiliary valve . possible a much larger one than the one supplied.
The Floodcheck™ has provision for this, and the internal valve and sensor can be disconnected easily for this operation.
Additional Beeper/s
When the Floodcheck is approaching your set time out period it will bleep and give you a warning. If you turn the water off for just half a second it will reset itself and you have another time out period.
Problem is you may be in the shower and not hear the beeper. For this reason we have built in a facility for you to plug in an additional extension beeper. This can be as far away as you like, and you can have more than one of you chose. You will need to run a thin two core cable to the place you want the additional beeper. ( maybe outside the shower room )
Emergency Water ON / OFF
At any time you can push the emergency button to turn the water on or off. If the water is already on and you push the emergency button it turns it of and vice versa.
Night off
We had a case recently where an outside tap had been installed at a disabled care home for residents to wash their cars down. At night the local kids thought it would be a good idea to turn the taps on full . It was winter , the water froze, and in morning they had their own skating rink. The kids loved it but the residents were not so impressed with their efforts. With this in mind we built in the Night Off facility whereby the user can set the Floodcheck to turn the water off at night (say 6pm until 6 am).
Of course if it were installed in the usual way it would turn off all the water supply. That may not be acceptable, so one may need to fit this as an additional control to just turn off the water supply to that branch.
Self test
We strongly recommend that at least once a month you run you own test to ensure all is well with the Floodcheck(tm) and maximum protection is working. To do this just leave a tap running a little to exceed the “ Time Out” you have set. Soon the water will go off and the LCD. will show “Time Out”. And bleep at you.
Alternatively you can set the Floodcheck to run its own self test. It will do this once a month. If all is well it will report nothing, if not it will prompt you to get it checked.
If all these technical terms and settings worry you, DON’T WORRY you can just push “RESTORE” and the Remote will restore all the setting to the standard default levels we recommend. |
